After graduating as a Master in Art History at the University of Leuven, Joris Van Grieken started a PhD research supervised by Jan Van der Stock (KU Leuven) that focuses on the 16th century reception of early Netherlandish painting in the Southern Low Countries.

From January 2008 to June 2011, Joris worked at the Print Room of the Royal Library of Belgium on a research project concerning the print publisher Hieronymus Cock and his publishing business ‘Aux quatre vents’. This project resulted in an exhibition curated by Joris Van Grieken, Jan Van der Stock and Ger Luijten titled: ‘Hieronymus Cock – The renaissance in print’ which was held at M Museum Leuven and the Fondation Custodia – Institut Néerlandais in Paris in 2013.

Since July 2011 Joris Van Grieken is curator at the Print Room of the Royal Library of Belgium. His research focuses on the reception history of Early Netherlandish art and on printmaking in the Southern Netherlands in the 16th and 17th centuries.
